Trivia

* Has child-like tendencies, as noted by bandmate Hiroki Uchi.

* During a TV interview of Kanjani8, where Ryo was absent, a member made the comment that Ryo usually ends up making decisions for the team though he was in no way the leader of the group.

* Commonly known as Ryo-chan because of his short stature in his younger years.

* Sometimes called "Dokkun" for his sharp tongue.

* Known often as "Gachapin" (especially at Concerts)from when he did a 'monomane' of it

* For a while, there seemed to have been an ongoing rivalry between Ryo and Tatsuya Ueda of KAT-TUN. There are rumors though, saying that those were all scripted by JE.

* Is extremely loyal to his friends (Helped Ohkura arrange a drum solo during their 2004 Christmas concert because he felt that the younger boy did not have enough exposure. Blamed himself for not being able to comfort Ohkura more when Ohkura's grandfather passed away though Ohkura himself had thanked Ryo for being there for him. Additionally, he blamed himself for Hiroki Uchi's drinking incident.)

* His image color in Kanjani8 is yellow.

* The nickname "Dokkun" was made up by Yokoyama Yu.

* Is a good cook.

*Best friend is Uchi Hiroki.

* A big fan of Leah Dizon. (Or at least he was until he met her and got embarrassed.)

* Has, actually, cried over food. It was apparently very delicious.

* On his private time he often hangs out with Matsujun, Yamapi, Yasu, Ohkura, Jin, Uchi and U-kun.

* Has got the nickname "Nikki" from a cameraman who works at the magazine Myojo.

* Is known for having a very sharp tongue.(you got that right.haha)

* Until he was around 16 years old he was only 150 cm tall and used to jump a lot in order to make other people believe he was taller.(now you're higher!)

* Has a tendency to lie a lot. Though, differently from Subaru he admits that he lied just a little while afterwards.(...)

* Has been the victim of bad press among international fans, who make him out to be vindictive, spiteful and (in extreme cases) actually insane.

* Doesn't actually hate Ueda Tatsuya anymore, contrary to popular belief.(YAY~!)

* Loves to tell his friends to cut their hair and bug them about it until they do. Recent 'victims' include Shige and Yamapi.

* Is, according to Yoko, the one in Kanjani8 who makes most of the decisions when it comes to the group, but is by no means the leader.

* He doesn't like talkative girls.

* Has repeatedly made it known that he believes that Japanese people should have black hair; while his has been both brown and blonde, it has never stayed that way for long.

*His special nickname for Hiroki Uchi: Honey Toast and Piroki

*He is basically a righty, but he got fractures on his Right arm so he uses his left hand a lot. (he cant bend his right hand well) (poor ryo!)

*Ryo likes to read a lot of books. Mostly Non-fiction. He loves the Da Vinci code. he likes to read about various subjects.

*Ryo taught Tegoshi the Guitar and he also helps Tegoshi with a lot of his fashion choices. Tegoshi is his "pet" that he calls Tego-nyan

*In an interview with NEWS where Ryo was absent Keii-chan said "He keeps on going on until he collapsed. He kept persevering even though he did not feel well and he did not tell anyone." Massu added that,"He worried us.He kept on shouldering responsibility when we can share it. " Shige also said that "He is our Aniki. I call him like my older brother since I have no siblings. He always takes care of us before himself." Tegoshi also said "We hope that he would be ok. " (awwww~)

*When he was shooting the drama One Liter of Tears he kept on slipping into Kansai-ben and he kept on ad-libbing and adding things to it even after he had spoken the speech.He studies the script at home and when he goes to the set, he tries not to have any script and acts like Asou all the time.(asou is kakkoii and nice)

*He plays the role of an intimidating boy with his speech and he's the cool guy of NEWS but he is really an extremely shy person. (you got thet right!)

*Among the senpais, He meets up with Jun Matsumoto most. Among his colleagues, its with Yamapi (NEWS), Shota Yasuda (関ジャニ∞), Ohkura Tadayoshi (関ジャニ∞) and Akanishi Jin (KAT-TUN) that he meets with the most

*Takuya Kimura of SMAP and him share the same blood type (O) and Star Sign: Scorpius

*His foot size is 26.5 cm, for sneakers (which he collects) 27 cm

*He lives in Kadoma City in Osaka and He was born in Amagasaki City in Hyogo

*His favorite foods include cold boiled rice, chinese noodles, miso soup, wakame noodles, garlic rice, pickled gingers and anything with mayonnaise.

*He hates Sayaendou ( Green Peas), all fish (except sea bream and boiled globe fish), Casserole, warm vegetables, sweet things (especially ocean candy) gratin, and Chocolate

*Favorite music artist: Nirvana, Mr.Children and Red HOt chili peppers. he also likes Jazz and classical music.

*He is the only one in NEWS/ Johnny's that got a special Solo LIVE concert.

*His name Ryo-chan comes from his height

*He auditioned for Johnny's Entertainment on September 6,1997.

*Ryo can cook well. His specialty is making Yakiniku, Spaghetti with Meatballs and cakes. Ryo can bake well!

*He can play 3 instruments: The Guitar ( Solo concert) Piano, and Harmonica

*He is organized chaos. He organizes his racks of costumes every concert by himself, his concert notes and everything else, but he has one of the messiest lockers in Johnny's Entertainment.

*He donated some of his earnings from 1 Liter of Tears to the research for the cure of Spinocerebellar Degeneration, Aya Kito's disease in 1 Liter of Tears.
